Health officials in British Columbia are warning their Alberta counterparts that an individual infected with measles visited Calgary this month.
Alberta Health Services is advising Calgarians of the following exposure times and locations:
• Forbidden City Dim Sum & Seafood, 999 36 St N.E.
January 15 between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
• Waterfront Condos, 222 Riverfront Ave S.W.
Between 12 a.m. January 15 and 10 a.m. January 18
• Calgary International Airport
January 18 between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
• WestJet flight WS287 to Vancouver
Departed Calgary January 18 at 11:35 a.m.
If you were in these locations during those times, you may be at risk for contracting measles if you were born after 1970 and have not already had the disease or have not received two doses of measles vaccine.
AHS recommends that those who believe they may be at risk monitor themselves for symptoms of measles. If symptoms develop, AHS advises individuals to stay home and call Health Link at 811 before visiting a doctor or clinic.
Those symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a red blotchy rash that appears three to seven days after fever begins. The rash begins behind the ears and on the face, spreading down the body to arms and legs.
AHS is holding a news conference this afternoon regarding the advisory.
