Snowfall warning still in effect for communities south of Calgary A heavy snowfall hit Calgary Tuesday night, making for lots of brushing and a slippery commute on Wednesday morning. (@inam_net/Twitter) A major dump of snow overnight is making for a slippery morning commute in Calgary. The surprisingly heavy snowfall led to about 20 minor crashes Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., police say. There were no injuries.
Major routes like Crowchild Trail were mostly plowed for the morning commute, but driving was still slippery. (Evelyn Asselin/CBC) Drivers are being advised to be careful this morning. An Environment Canada snowfall warning remains in effect for Okotoks, High River and south to Fort Macleod, including the southwest corner of the province as well. "They were saying scattered showers, it was supposed to miss us. I didn't expect quite as much, but that's life. We're Calgary," said Brian Hebert as he shovelled his walk. "I saw it coming down last night, so I knew I was going to be out today." Expect to see crews all day continuing to plow across the city.
